Our Concepts of Chemistry - What Do We Find?

Our Concepts of Chemistry - What Do We Find? When the past and present of mankind are considered, what do we find? First of all, we will see our society being charged with the need to develop a Chemistry in order to live. As individuals, we have an ability to affect our environment and, in the process, our lives, and that will be discovered in the future.Within any time-frame, millions of life forms exist and, if their habits are followed, our understanding of how the chemical forces work will be enriched. Some scientists believe, however, that it is only in the very beginning stages that this exploration will be beneficial. Then again, it's not likely that humans will settle for a 'prehistory'primitive', because this is no more a realistic approach to life than it would be to expect humans to be children. For a dramatic change to take place, many species will have to be brought into existence. In a relatively short time, it will be possible to raise the world's resources, both the Ear th's and those of living organisms. Many animals will be able to survive on them, some of which can be domesticated. Our own species, as much as it can, will probably have to evolve. The sense of wonder that makes the present possible will not last indefinitely, however, but will be reduced as the numbers of the species that live on this planet begin to rise. What forms those numbers will take will depend on many factors, including our own attitude toward life, our preference for the kind of creature we would like to be, and the current level of development of different species. The very good news is that humanity has been continuously thinking of ways to make life easier, more desirable, and more agreeable. We've tried many things to influence our environment and use those which are almost universally accepted. Even those substances and attitudes we have deemed too foreign to accept have had some effect, though not always what we had expected. This has proven to be a force for positi ve change. On a very broad basis, a certain amount of Chemistry will be required by all beings, even though no single individual will be responsible for every phase of development. It will be common for new species to arise, but it is not likely that any will find its way onto the scene before all others have evolved into maturity. Because of this, at least one of the major human concepts, namely Cooperation, will have to be altered in order to make progress.Every living thing, from the very simple amoeba to the most complex organisms, depends on chemical impulses, as well as on intelligent efforts, to determine their behavior. Any division among the various species of life will be resolved only by the effort of each and every one. Because the chemical aspects of life are so important, humans must modify their relationship with these forces if they want to remain the dominant species on the planet. It will be necessary for mankind to learn how to control the chemical impulses within themselves and other individuals in order to control the conditions which influence the evolution of all living things. No one can predict how the emergence of new kinds of life might affect us, because it is impossible to foresee any changes that might be brought about by those who live next door. But, there can be no doubt that most people will benefit from the achievements of modern science, and the attitudes that have developed. It would seem that Science is not only inevitable, but it is also the first step toward creation of a world of peace. It has only taken the ancient builders of the Ancient World a little over ten thousand years to come up with the concept of 'Science'.
